Why Do Non-Depreciable Assets Not Have Rows in Fa_Deprn_Summary and Fa_Deprn_Detail Tables? (Doc ID 1597868.1)

Last updated on MARCH 09, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Assets - Version 12.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

If an asset has the Depreciate_Flag set as "NO" in the FA_BOOKS table, then without adjusting the amount for the asset, will it insert a row in fa_deprn_summary and fa_deprn_detail tables after running depreciation?

For example:

A new asset was added with the Depreciate_Flag set as "NO".

a) Ran Depreciation (closing period) for the addition period. A row was created for the period in FA_DEPRN_SUMMARY and FA_DEPRN_DETAIL.
b) Ran Depreciation (closing period) for the next period. No row was created for the period in FA_DEPRN_SUMMARY and FA_DEPRN_DETAIL.
c) Adjusted the asset cost and ran Depreciation (closing period) for the following period. A row was created for the period in FA_DEPRN_SUMMARY and FA_DEPRN_DETAIL.
