Last updated on APRIL 03, 2025

Applies to:

Oracle Human Resources - Version 12.1 HRMS RUP5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Every time we need to change an organization code within a position (i.e. during a restructure OR when cost codes change) we have to recreate the position and move the person in to a new position. This is because the organization code is a 'fixed/locked' code within the position screens and cannot be changed.

If over-type the organization code held within positions is allowed, then the data cleansing can be done with ease. There will not be need to recreate hundreds of new positions and move people into them.

Every time on restructure for example Communities moving to other directorates, There is no need to recreate whole services again (especially as Finance need to create new cost codes) as the changes can be made to the positions easily.

This will save a lot of man hours in recreating structures for a simple change of organization code.
