9.2.0.8 SQL scripts disconnecting at connect / as sysdba and Problem Importing Dump (Doc ID 1624711.1)

Last updated on MARCH 08, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Applications Technology Stack - Version 11.5.9 to 11.5.10.2 [Release 11.5 to 11.5.10]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Scripts include: addb920.sql , adsy920.sql , adjv920.sql , admsc920.sql , possibly other scripts of they contain the line 'whenever oserror exit failure rollback;'
Even if no oserror appears to be returned.
Log file addb920.log remains empty.

Symptoms

SQL*Plus scripts failing to run as disconnecting from SQL during connect.

eg.

sqlplus system/manager @addb920.sql

SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.8.0 - Production on Thu Feb 6 22:27:42 2014

ERROR:
ORA-06553: PLS-213: package STANDARD not accessible

Error accessing package DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO

Connected to:
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
JServer Release 9.2.0.8.0 - Production

Disconnected from Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 - Production       <-----NB
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
JServer Release 9.2.0.8.0 - Production

.....

The ERROR:

ORA-06553: PLS-213: package STANDARD not accessible
   Error accessing package DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO

Can be ignored as the package is not installed until the addb920.sql has been run successfully - (explained in note 230627.1)

If the script is exiting ' Disconnected from Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.8.0 ' when 'SQL> connect / as sysdba' this is not correct as the script will appear to hang and will not continue to complete required database setup.

If the disconnects in these scripts are ignored then further errors will occur in subsequent tasks such as importing:

IMP-00003: ORACLE error 942 encountered
ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
IMP-00023: Import views not installed, please notify your DBA
IMP-00000: Import terminated unsuccessfully

This is because the required database setup is missing.

Changes

Installed new ORACLE_HOME or patched existing ORACLE_HOME to 9.2.0.8
