How to Customize Search, so Product Number takes a precedence over Description (Doc ID 1626530.1)

Last updated on MARCH 31, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle iStore - Version 12.1.3 and later
Oracle Quoting - Version 12.1.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Currently when product searched in Quoting or iStore, it uses intermedia search table, IBE_CT_IMEDIA_SEARCH
This table uses intermedia index based on combination of product number, description and long description.
However, the order in which this search string was built was like this:
Product Description + Product Long Description + Product Number

Above works fine for most cases but for some cases, user may see unexpected products when user searches by Product Number.
If users always searches by product number not by description much, then one may need to customize the way search table data was built by changing the order sequence of fields,

Product Description + Product Long Description + Product Number
Product Number + Product Description + Product Long Description
