Last updated on DECEMBER 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Installed Base - Version 12.1.3 to 12.1.3.4 [Release 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

Change the Owner on an Install Base Instance through the User Interface (UI).

Symptoms

When trying to change the Owner on an Install Base Instance, the 'Change Owner' button is not shown on the General Details Page.

Changes

Cause

The Instance in question was thought to be a Parent Instance, which it was, BUT it was also a Child Instance at a higher level in the configuration.

To make sure you know the full status of an Instance belonging to a configuration, you can run the following query,

SELECT * FROM csi_ii_relationships

WHERE object_id = <enter the Instance ID you are checking>

      OR subject_id = <enter the same Instance ID>

If you get results that show your Instance as both an object (Parent) and subject (Child) in 'Active' status. then it cannot be directly updated.  You will need to update the Parent Instance and let the change cascade to to your Instance.
