Symptoms

In R12.1.3 Product Hub
Receiving JBO-28200 error when executing Item Rules, when item primary attribute is updated by assignment rule.

oracle.jbo.ValidationException: JBO-28200: Validation threshold limit reached. Invalid Entities still in cache

REPRODUCING STEPS
---------------------------------
1. Created Item Rule to generated item description using one UDA.
2. Assign rule to Rule Set.
3. Change UDA value.
4. Receive error: oracle.jbo.ValidationException: JBO-28200: Validation threshold limit reached. Invalid Entities still in cache

 

Note: The issue can also occur for other scenarios and in R12.2.3:

For example: Item rule for description update gives error below  but takes change, so is confusing for the end user:

Customer has defined an item rule that if a user creates the item description in lower case, the item rule converts such description to all upper case. The item rule take effect but end user gets the error:
