Oracle Service Contracts – How To Calculate Contract Tax Using Tax Code Effectivity Dates (Doc ID 1676700.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Service Contracts - Version 12.1.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

The tax rate and its effectivity can change over the duration of a contract.  Hence, service organizations need to provide an accurate picture of the estimated tax that may be incurred on the contract.   Prior to Release 12.1.3+, the application calculated the estimated tax based on the line/ sub line start date. With Release 12.1.3+, Oracle Service Contracts provides users with an option to calculate tax at contract billing schedule level thereby considering the changes in tax rate effectivity at that level.

This document explains the new functionality and how to implement it.

Note: This functionality is available in 12.1.3+ with the application of Patch 16601269:R12.OKS.B (see Doc ID 1676672.1 for details of fixed files).

Scope

This document is intended for Service Contracts users and implementers.  Knowledge of the EBS Tax setup required is assumed.
