Choosing Service Name for Node Affinity for Concurrent Programs/Managers Over Instance Alias (Doc ID 1908794.1)

Last updated on APRIL 17, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Concurrent Processing - Version 12.1.3 to 12.1.3 [Release 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Would like the ability to choose Service Name for node affinity for the concurrent programs/managers over instance alias.

Running Oracle eBS R12.1.3 on a 4 Node RAC database (11.2.0.3).
Have enabled parallel concurrent processing.

Recently db node1 got rebooted following which the other nodes are not registered with the listener on the node 1.

Due to which intermittent connection failures resulting in many Concurrent program failures were experienced.

Exploring opportunities to chose service names for node affinity of the concurrent programs/managers to fix this issue from re-occuring again.

Suggest any patch which address this issue, or workaround to implement so than node affinity for concurrent program/manager can be set to use listener service name instead of instance name.

Using RAC, PCP and/or virtual node names.
