Java Applet is Stalled Due to "killing sub-process because of no heartbeat reply" (Doc ID 1910703.1)

The execution of Java applets was observed to be stalled reproducibly.
The following error messages were found in the Java Plug-in process.

The behaviour was strictly reproducible with a wide range of 32-bit Java SE software versions:
6u33, 6u45, 7u51, 7u55 and 7u60.
The logs were obtained using 32-bit Java SE 7 Update 60.
The operating system used was 64-bit Windows 7 SP1.
The box was equipped with 4 GB of RAM.
The behavior was reproducible with 32-bit Internet Explorer browser version 9, 10, and 11,
and with most recent 32-bit Firefox browser 29.0

The Java Plug-in is run as a separate process, that is communicating via IPC (inter-process communication) with the
browser process, that is displaying the Java applet.
