Retain Delivery Number After Backorder (Doc ID 1913902.1)

We would like to retain the original delivery number for all back order lines. The backorder may occur during the following process:

1. At Pick Release

2. During ship confirm

In both cases we would like to use back order functionality to retain Delivery number. Is it possible to have the delivery number intact upon backordering?
