On : version and higher,

Attempting to apply a receipt to an invoice and receive the following error:

Could not reserve record 2 tries, keep trying?

Steps to Reproduce:
Responsibility:  Receivables
Navigation:  Receipts > Receipts
1. Query receipt
2. Attempt to apply to an Invoice
Error occurs

You can apply the same receipt to other invoices.
This happens for all users.
