Note: This could apply to any *NIX platform that includes a built in linker.
On 188.8.131.52 version, adrelink of f60webmx fails with adadmin or $AD_TOP/bin/adrelink.sh force=y "fnd f60webmx":
lib -Bdynamic /usr/dt/lib/libXm.so.3 -lgen -L/usr/openwin/lib/ -R/usr/openwin/lib/ -lXt -lX11 -L/usr/lib -lw -lm
ld: unrecognized option '-B'
ld: use the --help option for usage information
make: *** [/OAPRODapps/appl/fnd/11.5.0/bin/f60webmx] Error 1ac
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Install GNU binutils on a Solaris system.
2. Ensure that the GNU version of the "ld" utility is in the path prior to the installed version in /usr/ccs/bin.
3. Attempt to relink via adamin as the applmgr user.
4. Note error "ld: unrecognized option '-B'". This is the effect of calling the binutils linker on a system where it isn't expected.
Installation of the GNU Binutils coupled with the addition of the directory where the GNU linker binary is installed to the PATH environment variable prior to the system "/usr/ccs/bin" directory.
