Unable to Enter Service Details For Subscription Items in Sales Orders

Information in this document applies to any platform.
Find it is not possible to enter details on the Services tab for Subscription items on a Sales Order. The Start Date, and End Date are greyed out and not updatable.
The Action > Service Contract Details form is not available. Trying to access it gives the following error.
Contract details form can be opened for service items only.
1. Place sales order, Select a Subscription Item. The Service Start Date and Service End Date are not getting enabled.
2. The Action > Service Contract Details is also not available.
