17653437 Fails With Patch Directory Area Must Be A Number (Doc ID 1982668.1)

While applying patch 17653437 using Opatch, it is failing with the following error :

Oracle Home : /oracle/apps/test/apps/tech_st/10.1.2
Oracle Home Inventory : /oracle/apps/test/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/inventory
Central Inventory : /oracle/inst/test/apps/test_point/admin/oraInventory
  from : /oracle/apps/test/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/oraInst.loc
OUI location : /oracle/apps/test/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/oui
OUI shared library : /oracle/apps/test/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/oui/lib/linux/
Java location : /oracle/apps/test/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/jdk/jre/bin/java
Log file location : /oracle/apps/test/apps/tech_st/10.1.2/.patch_storage/<patch ID>/*.log

The patch directory area must be a number.

ERROR: OPatch failed because of problems in patch area.
