Unable To Renew Contracts Due To Error "You cannot change this private group."

On : 12.1.3 version, Service contract Renewals

When attempting to renew a contract in this new org,
the following error occurs.

You cannot change this private group. Contact your system administrator to change this group.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create a new contract group
2. Author a service contract and add that group to the admin tab
3. Activate the contract
4. Search for the contract
5. Right click >> Renew
5. Duration: 1 Year
6. Click Renew and receive the above error.

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot renew contracts
