Oracle Configurator Errors with FRM-92100 Your Connection To The Server Was Interrupted

On Configurator build 188.8.131.52.45
On forms version earlier than 184.108.40.206.0
When running a published User Interface (UI), for example configuring a Sales Order through Order Management, the following error occurs when selecting "Finish" within Configurator. The error is only observed after upgrading from JRE version 8.25 to 8.31. Critical patches have been applied to the instance, and it has been tested to work without errors up to JRE version 7.72.
FRM-92100: Your connection to the server was interrupted. This may be the result of a network error, or a failure on the Server. You will need to reestablish your session.
The following NullPointerException appears in the Java console when recreating the issue:
at sun.java.java2d.ScreenUpdateManager.createScreenSurface(Unknown Source)
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. In Order Management responsibility
2. Select a sales order, add a Configurable item.
3. Select Configure
4. Make Configuration selections, select finish
5. Error occurs
