BI Publisher Report Output Not Rendered And Error In Log: oracle.xdo.template.online.dms.common.XDODmsException: IO Exception was thrown

Symptoms
On BI Publisher 11.1.1.7.150120 upgraded from 11.1.1.6.12,
After the upgrade, the following occurs to some reports:
Actual Behavior
The BI Publisher report shows a blank page and the output is not displayed.
Expected Behavior
The BI Publisher report should display the output on screen.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Access Analytics page.
2. Invoke the BI Publisher report.
3. The report displays a blank page instead of the output with data.
The BI-Publisher.log shows following exception:
oracle.xdo.template.fo.area.TableCell cannot be cast to oracle.xdo.template.fo.area.TableBody
at oracle.xdo.servlet.XDOServlet.writeReport(XDOServlet.java:472)
at oracle.xdo.servlet.XDOServlet.doGet(XDOServlet.java:280)
at oracle.xdo.servlet.XDOServlet.doPost(XDOServlet.java:313)
at javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet.service(HttpServlet.java:727)
