Master Item Form (INVIDITM) Is Not Saving Updates for Items with Long Item Number

When attempting to update items through the Master Item form (INVIDITM), the changes are not getting saved into the database whereas no error gets raised.
The problem occurs with items with long item number.

Expect getting the changes applied.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Go to Inventory: (N) Items : Master Items
2. Find an item known as problematic
3. Update the Description
4. Re-query the item
5. See the Description has not changed
