Information in this document applies to any platform.
GLXJEENT - Journal Entry form

Symptoms

Enter Journals form, when attempting to enter a manual journal for newly defined journal category , the following error occurs.

ERROR
APP-FND-01702: An assignment does not exist for these parameters and one is mandatory.

Cause: The Profile option sequential numbering is defined to have sequential numbering always used. The current set of parameters does not have a sequence assigned.

Action: Go to the Assign Sequence screen and assign a sequence to the current set of parameters."

STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create new journal category for General Ledger (GL) application using AOL Document Categories form (with responsibility System Administrator, navigation: Sequential Numbering > Categories).
2. Create new document sequence for the GL application with Automatic numbering using AOL 'Document Sequences' form (navigation: Sequential Numbering > Define)
3. Assign the new document category to the new Journal Category for the GL application and ledger , using Method = Null (navigation: Sequential Numbering > Assign)
4. Try to enter a manual journal in GL for the new journal category and find the error.

Verified the profile option 'Journals: Default Category' and this is properly set to a journal category which already has a Document Sequence assigned (as per Note 196994.1, sequence validation is performed first against the default journal category).
