UPK: Publishing Error: Object Reference Not Set to An Instance of an Object Version (Doc ID 2056069.1)

Customer upgraded to from UPK to version

When publishing existing content, publishing fails with the error:  "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

Publishing Activity log displays the following error:
