FSG: XML Generated Incorrectly and the Report Output Does Not Show Cyrillic Characters (Doc ID 2058003.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 25, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle General Ledger - Version 12.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Financial Statement Generator (FSG)

When using XML Publisher for a report generated by FSG, the Cyrillic characters are not displayed correctly.

Configuration: DB encoding = WINDOWS-1251; created profile FSG: Database Codeset (RG_XML_CODESET) and set it to WINDOWS-1251.
When generating XML output from General Ledger generated report, then the result is in WINDOWS-1251 and not readable (as it contains Cyrillic).

Tried to bypass this problem by setting browser EBS preferences > Client Character Encoding to WINDOWS-1251; then the XML is correct, but all other reports are not.
Both ways, when running FSG and pass the generated XML for publishing using FSG: Basic Template and Excel for output, the result is shown in HTML and it is unreadable.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Generate XML output via Financial Statement Generator
2. Run concurrent program XML Report Publisher using the XML output created at step 1 and FSG: Basic Template
3. Check the output

Note: The issue may reproduce for other languages using special characters, not just Cyrillic.
