Clause variables dropped when revising contract
Variables are dropped in certain non-standard clauses when revising a contract in Oracle. The issue occurs most consistently when a buyer updates and saves the Amendment Description on a contract revision. The result is that variables are deleted from a clause and the clause text after the first dropped variable appears as italic print in the clause editor. The symptoms are identical to same issue fixed by Patch 12550464:R12.OKC.B. Problem started recurring after applying patches 202612047 and 20974623.
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Open Contract Terms to Edit, add some text to the Amendment Description and hit save.
The issue has the following business impact:
There are many buyers creating and revising contracts on a continuous basis. Valuable buyer time is wasted in the process of carefully reviewing all clauses for missing variables, and re-adding the variables and reassigning values to fix the discrepancies. The larger impact is the potential that a discrepancy is overlooked, resulting in confusion to the supplier and delaying a critical project. Other financial impact is the time spent by auditors, buyers, and suppliers to resolve/correct audit findings related to this issue.
