SS and Medicare Arrears is Refunded When Employee is on LOA and has Imputed Income

On : 12.1.2 version, US Payroll Tax Issues

The quick pay or payroll is refunding an amount of Social Security and Medicare tax due to the employee's imputed income and being out on leave

Correct Social Security and Medicare YTD balance when quick pay or payroll is run

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Employees were only receiving imputed income, the system put this into arrears this is correct behavior in the Oracle application
2. When the employee returns, Oracle would expect to see the arrears being taken
3. However, the amount being taken, is refunded and is not in the calculated amount

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot calculate a correct amount for the approximately 2000 employees with arrears
