Information in this document applies to any platform.
Case 1: In R12, when trying to save a new or updated PPR (Payment Process Request) template the system throws the following error message:
"Error Page. You have encountered an unexpected error. Please contact the System Administrator for assistance."
...and does not allow the new or updated PPR template to be saved.
-- Steps To Reproduce:
1. Payables Manager responsibility: Payments --> Entry --> Payments Manager
2. Click on the Templates tab
3. Change an existing Template setup or try to create a new Template
4. Upon "saving" or "applying", the error message displays
Case 2: In any release, when running any application that outputs reports via FND_FILE, utl_file
In any case the error in the FND log of the failed process, form, etc. may look like the following:
File could not be opened or operated on as requested.
Action: Make sure the directory - <problem directory path> - is a valid directory with write permissions and is accessible from the database server node for write operations.

Changes made (or need to be made) to the database parameter utl_file_dir
