12.2.4 Upgrade Driver Fails on onttab.odf for table OE_HOLD_SOURCES_ALL , Error: The type could not be changed because the column is not empty (Doc ID 2091254.1)

Symptoms


When running the upgrade driver for upgrade from 12.0.6 to 12.2.x , Performance is seen with execution of onttab.odf

During the first run of onttab.odf , below are the 2 statements which run very long.

ALTER TABLE ONT.OE_HOLD_SOURCES_ALL MODIFY (HOLD_ENTITY_ID2 VARCHAR2(250))

ALTER TABLE ONT.OE_HOLD_SOURCES_ALL MODIFY (HOLD_ENTITY_ID VARCHAR2(250))

 
Also find the alter statement to modify the data type of column HOLD_ENTITY_ID fails after running for 5 hours.

ERROR

"The type could not be changed because the column is not empty.
Alter the column to change the type once data has been converted."
