GLPPOS: Error31 - Unopened Secondary Ledger Period When Posting Prior to First Ever Period (Doc ID 2101793.1)

Symptoms

Primary Ledger has two periods, for example <PERIOD NAME>1 and <PERIOD NAME>2 open.
A Secondary Ledger is created with first ever period set to <PERIOD NAME>2 and this period is open.
The <PERIOD NAME>1 period does not exist in the Secondary Ledger.

Attempt to post Journal Batch to DEC-15 period in Primary Ledger and the posting program ends in warning.
The Journal Batch contains the following error:

ERROR
-----------------------
Error31 - Unopened secondary ledger period



STEPS TO REPRODUCE
-----------------------
1. Log into General Ledger
2. Navigate to Journals > Enter
3. Query for the batch
4. Select Post
5. Posting ends with above error.
