Find that there are 2 issues with the IE BIK Medical
1 - if the employee starts to get the benefit mid year and is paid each month in tax year 2015, they find that when running a payroll for the 1st period of 2016 the benefit appears to have been paid as a lump sum for 2016 instead of monthly.
2 - the amount for each period is seen to be 200, but it should be more.
-- Expected Behaviour
The annual value is 2600.
For each pay period the value is 200.
For an employee who has the benefit from a date earlier than tax year start date, it calculates 200 each pay period.
For an employee who has this benefit mid year,it calculates period value differently
This employee has the benefit from start date = 22-feb-15
end date= 31-dec-2015
system did below calc
days benefit= 313
The 11th pay period is "1 2016 Lunar Month"
2015: last period end date is 28-Nov-15, last pay date is 04-Dec-15
it is calculating the benefit till 31-dec. For us 31-dec-2015 falls in 2016. So the BIK calculated is higher
28-Nov-15 22-Feb-15 number of days = 280
total days 365, total premium = 2600, prorated should be 199.4520548
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps.
1. add benefit to employee mid tax year with a value of 2600
2. run payroll or quickpay
3. review the balance "IE BIK Other Reportable Item_ELEMENT_PTD"
4. you will see it is 200 for each run
5. Run the first period of 2016
6. It is far too high, appears to be the entire benefit in one payment.
