Using Autopack Delivery in Pick Release Errors With Actions Cannot Be Performed on Selected Lines as They are Released to Warehouse Packing Operation Encountered an Error

Symptoms
Find that the Autopack Delivery option that can be selected in Release Sales Order form when done as part of pick release is not working.
Pick release rule used has Autopack Delivery, Autocreate Delivieries, Auto Allocate and Auto Pick Confirm all set to Yes.
Using Autopack action in shipping transactions form after pick release it works fine.
The log file shows that Autopack is failing as follows:
msg_buffer ==> Actions cannot be performed on selected lines as they are released to warehouse.
msg_buffer ==> The packing operation encountered an error. None of the deliveries could be packed successfully.
msg_buffer ==> Error occured while Autopacking delivery into container.
STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. OM Super User responsibility
2. Release sales order using a release rule with autopack delivery, autocreate delivery, auto allocate and auto pick confirm set to Yes.
3. Pick release completes successfully and detail is staged, however, Autopack fails
