Internal 500 error while accessing EBS URL in SSO enabled environment

Symptoms
Expected Behavior:
When accessing the E-Business Suite (EBS) URL in an EBS/Single Sign On (SSO) enabled environment it should redirect to the OAM login page.
Actual Behavior:
When accessing the EBS URL in the EBS/SSO enabled environment an Internal 500 error is returned instead.
The following message can be seen in the AdminServer.log file:
