Error FRM-40831 When Creating Asset Number With Long Location Address (Doc ID 2152940.1)

Symptoms

When create asset numbers when passing the HZ Location Code with long address, the following error occurs.


ERROR

FRM-40831: Truncation occurred: value too long for field CURRENT_LOCATION.


STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Use API EAM_AssetNumber_Pub.Update_Asset_Number to update the location of Asset.
2. The API throws an error: FND FND_AS_UNEXPECTED_ERROR N PKG_NAME EAM_ASSET_LOG_PVT N PROCEDURE_NAME instance_update_event N ERROR_TEXT ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small
3. Create an Asset from form 'Asset Number' form using same location, results in the above error (FRM-40831).
