How To Validate "PO Number" During Checkout? (Doc ID 2165310.1)

You need to validate if an another Order with the same PO Number exists and prevent user from checkout or place order.
You have tried using the profile "OM:Enforce Check For Duplicate Purchase Order" but found this only works in Order Management's form where a warning message gets displayed.

Is it possible to validate the "PO Number" in the checkout to prevent user from entering a duplicate PO Number?
