Length and Weight Unit of Measure (UOM) Are Not Validated in ItemMaster Transactions

Symptoms
When sending an Item Master transmission to OTM including Length, Weight, Height information. UOM codes present on the measurement fields are are not validated, any random text in the UOM field for Length, Weight and Height is processed into OTM.
For comparison, If an Order Release is processed with Packaged Item having random text for UOM , the transmission errors with error message , "THE FOREIGN KEY ELEMENT Volume.VolumeUOMGid WITH VALUE <Gid xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/apps/otm"><Xid>YY</Xid></Gid> COULD NOT BE FOUND IN TABLE UOM COLUMN UOM_CODE" .
