Unable to Create Reference Number as a Hyperlink (Doc ID 2206653.1)

Symptoms

HTML text is entered into the value for a Reference Number. This temporarily shows as a hyperlink when prior to saving the object. Once the object is saved and the object is then viewed/edited again, the hyperlink is no longer existing and the full HTML text is displayed.
