R12 Incorrect Effective Date To Displays The Error: The effective date range overlaps an existing effective date range (Doc ID 2215330.1)

Symptoms

When adding an employee rate on a defined rate schedule the following error occurs.

The effective date range overlaps an existing effective date range


STEPS
--------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Projects responsibility > Setup > Expenditures > Rate Schedules
Find your Operating Unit and the defined Schedule.

2. On the Employee tab > enter by mistake the employee number with incorrect 'Effective Date To'
Effective Date From : first day of any month in the current year (example: 01-OCT-2016)
Effective Date To : many years beyond the current year (example: 01-OCT-2026)

3. Then On Employee tab > enter the same employee number but now correctly with 'Effective Date To'
Effective Date From : first day of any month in the current year (example: 01-OCT-2016)
Effective Date To : set as blank

4. Error occurs
