When developing an RTF in BI Publisher Desktop, troubleshooting issues during the development process may be easier with the debug activated.

The debugging log can provide more information regarding the background processing and all more efficient development.

For example, when would a developer need to use debugging?
In some cases a developer may want to use the xdo.cfg file to configure a font, but the micr font isn't working in the template.
You can follow the below steps and review the log to see if it's being used as intended.
