Last updated on APRIL 06, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Payroll - Version 12.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Problem Statement:

Element entry dates(effective_start_date and effective_end_date) for the non-recurring element, that has "Link To All Payrolls" link, are updated when deleting the assignment record.

Steps to Reproduce:
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

<Example>

Payroll A and Payroll B have different start and end dates.

Payroll Name

Period Name Start Date  End Date
Payroll A 1 2015 Calendar Month 16/DEC/2014 15/JAN/2015
2 2015 Calendar Month 16/JAN/2015 15/FEB/2015
Payroll B 12 2014 Calendar Month 01/DEC/2014 31/DEC/2014
1 2015 Calendar Month 01/JAN/2015 31/JAN/2015

Assignment has following datetrack records.

Effective End Date

Effective End Date Job Payroll
01/JAN/2001 31/DEC/2009 Job A Payroll A
01/JAN/2010 31/DEC/4712 Job B Payroll A

Element link for "Element X" -  "Link To All Payrolls"

<Steps>

1. Update the assignment payroll from "Payroll A" to "Payroll B" on 16/JAN/2015.
    (N) People > Enter and Maintain > (B) Assignment

Assignment records

Effective Start Date

Effective End Date Job Payroll
01/JAN/2001 31/DEC/2009 Job A Payroll A
01/JAN/2010 15/JAN/2015 Job B Payroll A
16/JAN/2015 31/DEC/4712 Job B Payroll B

2. Create a non-recurring element entry.
    (N) People > Enter and Maintain > (B) Assignment > (B) Entries

Element Entry is created from 01/JAN/2015 even though effective date of the form is set to 16/JAN/2015.
This is because element link is created with "Link to All Payrolls".

Element Entry

Element Name

Effective Start date Effective End Date
Element X 01/JAN/2015 31/JAN/2015

 3. Delete assignment record that starts before the payroll change. (01/JAN/2010)
Go back to the Assignment form, change the effective date to 31/DEC/2009,  click on delete button, and select "Next" option and save.

Assignment records now become as below.

Effective Start Date

Effective End Date Job Payroll
01/JAN/2001 15/JAN/2015 Job A Payroll A
16/JAN/2015 31/DEC/4712 Job B Payroll B

Element entry that was assigned 'Payroll B' is also updated with the dates for "Payroll A" pay period "1 2015 Calendar Month".

Element Name

Effective Start Date Effective End Date
Element X 16/DEC/2014 15/JAN/2015
