Java Exception Error After Selecting Benefits from Employee Self-Service (Doc ID 2245276.1)

Symptoms

When new hires are attempting to update Benefits in Self-Service, the following error occurs:

oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to oracle.apps.ben.selfservice.enrollment.webui.SelectionColumnData

STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Go to responsibility Employee Self-Service.
2. Select function Benefits.
3. Add two dependents.
4. Select Update Benefits button.
Error occurs.
