Symptoms

E-Business Suite R12 Workflow, Workflow Mailer Outbound Processing issues

 



Workflow Mailer is running, but is not successfully sending emails.

[Apr 1, 2017 1:00:00 AM PDT]:1000000000000:-1:-1:test.hostname:1.1.4.1:-1:-1:1:20000:SYSADMIN(0):-1:Thread[outboundThreadGroup1,5,outboundThreadGroup]:1000000000:20000:1000000000000:28:ERROR:[SVC-GSM-WFMLRSVC-30000-10000 : oracle.apps.fnd.wf.mailer.SMTPOutboundProcessor.send(Message)]:Problem encountered when sending to {[["<LAST_NAME>, <FIRST_NAME>" <user@domain_name>]]} -> com.sun.mail.smtp.SMTPSendFailedException: 530 Client was not authenticated

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create an expense report.
2. Submit expense for approval.
3. Expense report is rejected but not sent.

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot receive emails sent via standard Workflow Mailer processes.
