Getting 'Unexpected Error' Or ORA-01722 When Searching For Items In PIM (Doc ID 2284803.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to click on an item though Product Information Management (PIM) Item Search page, the following error occurs.

ERROR

You have encountered an unexpected error. Please contact the System Administrator for assistance.

Exception Details.
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException: java.sql.SQLException at
oracle.apps.fnd.framework.OAException.wrapperException(OAException.java:912) at
oracle.apps.ego.item.eu.util.EgoItemPrivilegeQueryContext.hasPrivilegeOnCatalogGroup(EgoItemPrivilegeQueryContext.java:751)
at oracle.apps.ego.item.eu.webui.EgoItemActionPopListCO.hasICCUserPrivilege(EgoItemActionPopListCO.java:995) at
....

More exceptions are following this errors in the log file.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Product Hub responsibility > Item Search
2. Search an Item

Note: This issue also occurs in Advance Search and when creating an item.
