OSN Special Characters In Password Reset OSN Special Characters In Password Reset Cannot Match Password in EBS XML Gateway (Doc ID 2289783.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 03, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Business Network - Version 5.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In Oracle Supplier Network (OSN/OSuN), when using the Forgot Password feature in OSN, users are forced to enter a password that includes a special character;  however, in EBS, the trading partner/user setup in XML Gateway does not allow the passwords to contain special characters.

Steps To Reproduce

1. Connect to https://osn.oracle.com/snw/faces/ForgotPassword.jsf
2. Enter username and email address to submit the password reset
3. Wait for two-token passcode to arrive via email and then enter it once received.
4. Now, enter new password "welcome1".  Note that there are no special characters in this password.
5. Received error:
"The password entered must be at least 8 characters long. It must contain at least one numerical, one alphabet and one special character".

This message is fine for most OSN users who are not used as the "automated" username in XML Gateway responsibility.

However, for the OSN username which is defined in Oracle XML Gateway as the login username/password, it is a problem because the Hub Definitions form does not allow the use of special characters.  In Oracle E-Business Suite using XML Gateway responsibility, the following error will appear in the Hub Definitions form if entering a password which contains special characters:

   Error
APP-ECX-385033: Please re-enter the password without special characters.
