R12.1.3: frmweb Processes Exhaust CPU After Retrieving Large Number of Records (Doc ID 2303970.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 28, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle E-Business Suite Technology Stack - Version 12.1.3 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Forms applet (FNDFFMSV) is opened for Forms export, and is closed abruptly. frmweb process is not terminated smoothly, resulting in rapid increase in CPU usage. Total CPU usage would get about 100%.

The issue can be reproduced with the steps below:

  1. Open Forms
  2. Search large number of records
  3. Run Export
  4. Export process go forward as below

    a) Decision - 100 more records have been retrieved, and an unknown number of additional records remain.
    b) Progress - Retrieving all records...
    c) Progress - Exporting data...

  5. Click "Continue to End" when (a) and close browser when (b)

Frmweb processes are not terminated smoothly and, however at the timing that forms export obviously has been done, the process rapidly increase CPU usage highly again.

For example, under the session timeout setting mentioned in Cause below, 30 minute later when OC4J timeout comes after close browser, frmweb process begin to increase CPU again. And the process keep high CPU for another 30 minutes, then terminated at forms timeout timing.

Forms Process (FRMWEB) Consumes 100% of CPU in Oracle Applications R12 (Doc ID 745711.1) addresses similar issue but is about retrieving large records with LOVs.
