Depot Technician Portal: Enhancement to Create Refurbished Job

(Doc ID 2309553.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 20, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Depot Repair - Version 12.2.5 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

For a refurbished Job to be created, users need to go to the Create Repair Job form from the Depot Repair Workbench.
There, they are allowed to create a Job on a new item with Change part option.
Upon completion of the job, they can transfer the new item number to the defective instance number, which is now repaired.

But what if the business wants the technician to use the service codes to generate the Job from the Technician Portal, all that is not possible.

Expected Behavior:

The technicians should be able to use the Service Codes to generate the Job from the Tech Portal with the change part feature.

Steps:

* From Depot Repair Workbench:

(R) Depot Repair
(N) Service Order form
- Create a Job on a new Item
- Change Part option.
- Complete the job
- Transfer the new Item number to the defective Instance number, which is now repaired.

=> Success.

* From Technician Portal:

   Business wants the technician to use the service codes to generate the job with the change part feature.
   There is no place in Tech Portal where the technician can mention whether to change part/serial number etc.
   If they select a Service Code and generate a Job, it creates the Job on the original item, not on the upgraded item.

What is Working:

It works fine in Depot Repair Workbench.
Upon completion of the Job, transfer the new item number to the defective instance number, which is now repaired.
