Last updated on DECEMBER 03, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Concurrent Processing - Version 12.1.3 to 12.2.6 [Release 12.1 to 12.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Instance is a high availability Parallel Concurrent Processing (PCP) architecture design.

Due to their security policy, the concurrent managers are installed on 2 database servers with RAC databases.

The log and output files are stored in a shared folder running Database Filesystem (DBFS).

Upon restarting the concurrent managers, found that the parent process id (PPID) of all concurrent processes is set to the process id of FNDSM for both database nodes. And that parent id of all concurrent processes is set to 1 for 1 database node. This happens frequently in the same database node.

1. Why the parent process id is set to 1?
2. Are those processes losing parent process id still functioning properly?
3. If it is functioning, is there any performance issue?
4. How to prevent similar situation?
