Unable To Embed Hyperlink Within Text in an RTF Template (Doc ID 2336537.1)

Last updated on JULY 22, 2024

Applies to:

BI Publisher (formerly XML Publisher) - Version 11.1.1.7.x and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

You have a DFF in the Supplier Site table that passes a URL as a string. You are able to populate the URL onto the RTF template successfully and navigate to the specified web address.

You would like to have the URL inside of a hyperlink rather than having the URL exposed in full on the PDF.

You followed the instructions in the BI Publisher documentation section 'Creating RTF Templates Using the Template Builder for Word' - 'Inserting Hyperlinks' but it will only take you to a local folder in my directory

- if you specify a domain example (https://www.google.com) and then try appending the tags with {URL} as instructed, the tags are not appended to the URL.

You have also tried achieving this with XSLT but it shows the same behavior.

<fo:basic-link external-destination="{TREMSANDCONDITIONSURL}">
<fo:inline text-decoration="underline">google Link</fo:inline>
</fo:basic-link>
How can this be made to work?
