Users Cannot Play Classes Due To Greyed Out "Play" Button

Symptoms

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
Some users who are enrolled on a certification are unable to play the class within the course attached to the certification as the Play button is greyed out on their learner home page.

The message displayed when the user hovers over the Play icon is "You cannot view this content because you are enrolled in multiple classes containing the content"

We noted the comments in doc 2254725.1 and saw that our certification (and course) had a start date of after the Offering and Class:

Certification Start Date: 29-Sep-2017
Component Start Date: 29-Sep-2017
Offering Start Date: 09-Nov-2016
Class Start Date: 20-Apr-2017

However, changing the values of the Certification and Component Start Date to 01-Apr-1952 did not resolve the issue.


EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
-----------------------
The learners should be able to play the content from the certification.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Learner Self Service
2. Certification
3. lookup for the Bribery training
4. The play button is gray out.
