ECO Change Usage Of A Component In Unit-effective BOM Causes 'operation sequence fields must be unique' Error (Doc ID 2341515.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 20, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Bills of Material - Version 12.2.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Find that changing the Qty usage of a component by ECO in a unit-effective BoM causes BoM Maintenance form to give an error and MRP to skip planning the component.

This combination of values for component, unit number and operation sequence already exists.

Cause: The combination of of values in the component, unit number and operation sequence fields must be unique.

Action: Please change the component, unit number or operation sequence value.

Bills of Material Form:

1. Bills of material > Bills > Bills Existing BOM with component Quantity = 3 (For example)  Noting that MRP plans supply of the correct quantity.

2. Create ECO to change component quantity, in this example change the quantity from 3 to 1, effectivity control: Model/Unit Number

3. Implement change. Revised BOM shows old BOM component line quantity marked as disabled and a new entry for the same component with new quantity.

Both lines have the ECO reference and are both effective for the same Unit Number.

4. Scroll from original, disabled component line to the new component line gives an error.

The fact that the old line is disabled is not taken into account.

Larger Impact:

Run MRP, no Supply/demand records for the component, the new BoM component line seems to have been ignored.

Workaround Noticed

If the original line is deleted from the BoM the new line can continue.
