R12: FA: Amortized Rate Adjustment Completes with Error "Depreciation Cannot Exceed Depreciation Limit" (Doc ID 2354246.1)

Symptoms


When performing amortized adjustment by reducing basic depreciation rate with past date , the following error is occurs


ERROR
-----------------------

APP-OFA-48397: Program exited with errors

Error: Depreciation cannot exceed depreciation limit

Cause: Override amount is too large

Action : Enter an override amount that will not cause depreciation to exceed the depreciation limit

User-defined exceptions:

Error: Function FA_AMORT_PVT.faxama returned failure
Error: fa_adjustment_pvt.do_adjustment returned failure
Error: fa_adjustment_pub.do_all_books returned failure
Error: fa_adjustment_pub.do_adjustment returned failure


STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create asset with backdate Date Placed in Service and Reserve.
2. Close periods
3. Perform partial retirement
4. Perform override depreciation
5. Close period(s)
6. Perform amortized adjustment with past date and reduce rate
7. Error is showing
