In R12 - 12.2.6 Question about po_lines_all.cancel_reason#1 and rcv_transactions.comments #1 (Doc ID 2367607.1)

Last updated on MARCH 15, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Purchasing - Version 12.2.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

In 12.2.6 environment and Data Act patches, there are new columns available e.g. po_lines_all.cancel_reason#1 and rcv_transactions.comments#1. With these new columns being introduced the length of the columns has also been increased. It is expected a increase in the length of the Original table columns post upgrade e.g.po_lines_all.cancel_reason and rcv_transactions.comments.

The questions are:

a. Whether customer should use the new columns or the old original columns?
b. Whether customer applications have to be retrofitted since it is looking at the old columns for data instead of the new ones?
c. if users have to use the new # columns, will Oracle migrate all the existing data into new columns and ensure everything is in sync with the old column data?
