12c: Scheduling BI Publisher Reports With A Dynamic Date Parameter Like {$SYSDATE()$} Does Not Generate Output Sometimes (Doc ID 2390167.1)

Symptoms

On BI Publisher Enterprise 12.2.1.3.0 version,

Scheduled jobs are not sending content in the output and edit jobs goes to new job page.

After After upgrading from 11.1.1.1.7 to BI Publisher (BIP) 12.2.1.3.0, facing issues with scheduled jobs.

The two main issues are:-

1) Some of the scheduled jobs fail to generate output for user parameters. But when the same report is run directly with the same parameters again, the output is generated.
2) Next, upon clicking on Edit button in report jobs page on an existing scheduled job, instead of redirecting to the edit scheduled job page it goes to the page for scheduling a new scheduled job .

 

STEPS

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Log into EBS enterprise.
2. In BI Publisher report, try to use $SYSDATE()$ in the parameter default value and try to schedule the report.
3. Output is generated with no data.

BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot generate desired output from reports.
