Universal Business Format 2.1 is a XSD based open format primarily used by European organizations to share business documents. It is an open source format similar to XML. Documents using this format are passed through XML Gateway. Although XSD is not officially supported by the XML Gateway engine, it is possible to use UBL formats in some cases and this note discusses how to do that. Businesses will need UBL 2.1 compliant supporting subset SI-UBL in order to facilitate business documents such as Invoices and Credit notes, Dispatch Advice and orders pursuant to ISO/IEC 19845.
European Countries among the Netherlands will have to transpose this law in their legal systems by not later than April 18th 2019.
The European standard will be UBL 2.1 as stated in CEN/TS 16931-3-2:2017
